About This Coffee

This single-origin coffee is grown by a group of female smallholder farmers in the Oburra-Wonenara District of Papua New Guinea. Cultivated at an altitude of 1800 to 2500 meters, the Arabica beans are hand-picked, pulped with stones, and washed in mountain rivers. This medium roast offers a bright and sweet profile with prominent notes of raspberry, black cherry, and caramel. It is versatile, providing a juicy, fruit-forward experience as a filter coffee and a chewier, sweet profile when prepared as espresso.

Girls Who Grind Coffee

Girls Who Grind Coffee was founded in 2017 by Fi O'Brien and Casey LaLonde in Wiltshire. Fi, originally from Australia, handles brand and design; Casey, from upstate New York, is head roaster and a qualified Q Grader who has been working in coffee since 2006. The roastery sources exclusively from women coffee producers. Through their Cheek to Cheek initiative, 10% of all retail coffee sales goes directly to the women farmers and producers they work with, on top of fair pricing for the green coffee itself. Casey roasts on a Giesen, developing profiles on an IKAWA sample roaster. Each retail bag features an illustrated portrait representing the spirit of the producer, designed by Fi and her husband.
