This coffee is a single-origin Red Bourbon variety from the Mugoyi hill in the Kayanza Province of Burundi, grown at an altitude of 1500-1700 meters. It is processed using a traditional natural method at the Izuba washing station. The flavor profile features notes of raisin, malty Assam tea, baking spices like clove and cinnamon, muscovado sugar, glacé cherry, sultana, cranberry, and a rustic rye crumb sweetness, finishing with milk chocolate and baked pear. It is a full-bodied coffee with a heavier, cooked fruit character.
Scenery Coffee Roasters was founded in London in 2023 by a trio with a combined three decades of experience in the specialty coffee industry. They roast on a Loring S35, producing on set days and holding coffee in airtight bulk storage before bagging, a workflow designed around freshness and consistency. Sourcing is forward looking: Scenery works with importers to purchase coffee early while it is still at origin, releasing lots as they land in the UK. All furniture in the space is upcycled, and the approach to materials follows the same minimal intervention philosophy that guides the roasting. Scenery was named a Sprudge Notable Roaster for 2025 and won Sprudge Best Design/Packaging in 2024.
