About This Coffee

Single-origin washed coffee from the Gatuyaini Wet Mill in Nyeri County, Kenya, located at 1,891 meters altitude on the slopes of Mount Kenya. The coffee combines SL-28, Batian, Ruiru-11, and SL-34 varieties grown by smallholder farmers in volcanic soil. The beans display berry-sweet characteristics with notes of blackcurrant, rhubarb, and brown sugar, making it well-suited for filter brewing methods.

Günter Coffee Roasters

Günter Coffee Roasters is a specialty roastery in Freiburg, Germany, founded in 2018 by Aurore Ceretta and brothers Philip and Mats Weller. Aurore, originally from Toulouse, first encountered specialty coffee in Berlin in 2011 while training under Nora Šmahelová at Chapter One, and she and Philip had already been running a coffee kiosk in Freiburg's Stadtgarten since 2014. The team roasts on a Giesen 15 kilogram drum roaster, sources green coffee from selected specialty importers and conducts weekly quality control cuppings to evaluate every batch. In late 2023 they opened a dedicated store with a cupping and training space in Freiburg's city centre, and have since moved the roastery itself into a larger production hall. Aurore is a two time German Cup Tasting Champion and placed second at the 2024 World Cup Tasters Championship in Chicago, finishing just ten seconds behind the winner with eight out of eight correct identifications. Philip won the German Roasting Championship in both 2024 and 2025 and represented Germany at the World Coffee Roasting Championship in Copenhagen.
