About This Coffee

Semendo coffee from the highlands of South Sumatra, Indonesia, sourced from smallholder farms at 900-1,400 meters altitude. This natural anaerobic lot is processed by Yogi Kurniawan. The coffee displays berry and dark fruit character with cupping notes of jackfruit, pineapple, mangosteen, and blackberry. Filter cup brings sweet jackfruit and pineapple with stone fruit and green pear acidity. Espresso reveals complex mangosteen, strawberry, and blackberry with tropical notes. With milk, flavors develop into cempedak cake, brie cheese, and durian crepe. Medium-high body with jammy balance and clean savoury aftertaste.

Arkib Kopi was founded in 2018 by Helmi, a certified Q grader whose training in Japan shaped both his palate and his approach to presentation. The roastery operates from its "Ibu Sawat" (Mothership) facility in Kuala Lumpur, housing a custom 1kg machine alongside a 15kg Cogen roaster for production batches. Sourcing follows a dual model: direct trade with producers to secure top lots and a sustainable partnership with Falcon Coffee Trader that prioritizes social and environmental impact. The lineup is organized into three collections, FANSI for omni roast, RUTIN for filter, and MANIS for espresso, each highlighting seasonal origins from Rwanda, Panama, Indonesia, and Brazil. Arkib also runs weekend public cupping sessions at its flagship, reinforcing its role as a community hub for specialty coffee education in Malaysia.
