This Rwanda coffee is a Washed Red Bourbon from the Ngoma Sector, Nyaruguru District, grown at 1800–2000 masl. It is produced by Baho Coffee and Emmanuel Rusatira at Fugi Kiyonza Hill. The beans are washed and dried after a multi-stage fermentation, resulting in a fruit-forward profile. Tasting notes highlight d’anjou pear, sage, honey, and lime, with a light roast and clean acidity.
Founded in 2020 at the onset of the COVID 19 pandemic, Moonwake Coffee Roasters emerged from the passion of two former tech engineers, Ming Wood from Tesla and Mabel Yeung from Meta. What began as Ming's personal coffee project within Tesla's internal coffee club evolved into a full roastery operation after both founders chose to leave their tech careers to pursue coffee full time between 2023 and 2024. Moonwake represents a growing movement of technologists who discovered that coffee roasting offers greater fulfillment than their previous careers, channeling engineering precision into specialty coffee.
