This washed Ethiopian coffee is from Bona Zuria in Sidama, produced by Bona Zuria Outgrowers at the Alo Gute Station. Grown at 2100-2300 meters altitude, it features landrace varieties (74158, 74112, 74110). Light roasted, the coffee presents distinctive stone fruit sweetness with vanilla and barley tea notes, developing a creamy, syrupy body with subtle spiced florals and a round, gentle finish with rice-like undertones as it cools.
Founded in 2020 at the onset of the COVID 19 pandemic, Moonwake Coffee Roasters emerged from the passion of two former tech engineers, Ming Wood from Tesla and Mabel Yeung from Meta. What began as Ming's personal coffee project within Tesla's internal coffee club evolved into a full roastery operation after both founders chose to leave their tech careers to pursue coffee full time between 2023 and 2024. Moonwake represents a growing movement of technologists who discovered that coffee roasting offers greater fulfillment than their previous careers, channeling engineering precision into specialty coffee.
