This single-origin coffee is grown in the Karongi district of Western Rwanda by the Agasake Women's group, a subset of the Kopakaki Dutegure cooperative. It is a washed process coffee that offers a medium-bodied cup with a medium-light roast profile. The flavor profile features notes of butterscotch, fudge brownie, and grapefruit citrus. This coffee is versatile and suitable for a range of brewing methods, including espresso.
Stephanie Welter Krause founded Swelter Coffee Roasters in 2020, originally based in El Cerrito, California, before relocating operations to Tailwind Roasting, a co roastery facility in Chicago. Swelter sources coffee that is women produced or women led throughout the supply chain, working with suppliers including Artisan Coffee Imports, Mighty Peace Coffee, Bean Voyage, and a family farm called Santa Marta in Guatemala. All coffee is roasted to order in small batches to minimize waste. The business is woman owned and operates under the principle of coffee by women, for everyone.
