About This Coffee

This single-origin coffee is produced by Stanislas Kayitera, a dedicated coffee farmer from western Rwanda. The coffee is grown on a 2.6-hectare farm with 5,281 coffee trees at altitudes between 1,535 and over 2,000 meters above sea level near Akagera washing station. The coffee undergoes anaerobic natural processing, where whole coffee cherries are fermented in closed plastic barrels without oxygen for 72 hours under controlled temperature conditions. After fermentation, the cherries are hand-sorted and slowly dried on raised beds for 34 days with controlled sun exposure. The processing results in a wild and funky coffee with great complexity and a lively flavor profile featuring vinous and creamy characteristics with notes of kiwi, cacao nibs, and cherry.
