About This Coffee

This washed lot is handpicked by members of the Mutangati Farmers’ Cooperative Society, before being fermented for up to 24 hours, and washed through grading channels. Drying takes up to three weeks, dictated by the weather, to encourage the highest quality outcome. The resulting tasting notes are bright, layered, and distinctly Kenyan: yuzu, pomelo, and redcurrant.

Redemption Roasters

Redemption Roasters was founded in 2017 by Max Dubiel and Ted Rosner with a singular mission: reducing reoffending through coffee. The roastery operates a Loring S70 Peregrin inside HMP The Mount in Hemel Hempstead, in partnership with the Ministry of Justice, and opened a second facility in Wembley in 2023. Barista academies now run in nine or more prisons across the UK, and over 1,500 individuals have completed training programmes. The results are striking: a 4% reoffending rate among their graduates compared to the national average of 42%. Redemption operates twelve London coffee shops and generates £3.47 in social value for every pound invested. Sourcing reflects the same ethos, including beans from Colombian ex paramilitary farmers rebuilding their lives and from female producers in Brazil.
