This coffee is from Gichuka Factory in Githunguri, Kiambu County, located on the south-east foothills of Aberdare ranges near Nairobi. The factory operates under Kimaratia Farmers' co-operative society, founded in 1995, with 2,500 small farmers cultivating approximately 613 hectares. The coffee undergoes strict quality control through Cherry-Clerks who oversee harvesting and reject any unripe or damaged cherries. The beans are hand-picked, pulped, and fermented in traditional Kenyan washed processing before being sun-dried.
