This coffee is a single-origin coffee from Ethiopia produced by approximately 750 smallholder farmers around Mundayo kebele in Nensebo woreda, near the Harenna Forest. The cherry is delivered daily to Aash washing station and processed as a natural lot, with hand sorting and raised-bed drying over 15–18 days. Drying steps include thinning the beds, careful turning, and shading during peak sun. The roast is oriented toward espresso preparation.
Joseph Haddad founded this trailblazing roastery in 2012 with an unwavering mission to make quality coffee accessible to everyone. Their philosophy centers on honoring the entire coffee chain from origin farmers to the final cup, employing rigorous research and extensive sourcing to deliver exceptional single origins and blends. Code Black's approach balances innovation with respect for traditional coffee craftsmanship, creating what they aptly describe as coffee "made by humans, for humans."
