This single-origin coffee is produced by Finca El Renacer in the Chinchiná region of Colombia at an altitude of 1,400 to 1,800 meters. It is an Arabica coffee of the SL28 variety, processed using a washed method combined with a unique ginger co-fermentation. During processing, the coffee is fermented in a closed tank for 72 hours with a culture of Lactobacillus, Saccharomyces cerevisiae, and fresh ginger. The resulting cup profile features distinct notes of ginger, lemongrass, and peach, offering a spicy, fruity, and sweet experience with a light roast level.
Maximilian Kranz and Dominik Münstermann founded Bohnenkartell in Essen, building a cafe and roastery whose playful name, meaning "Bean Cartel," belies a serious commitment to specialty coffee. All green coffees meet the SCA Specialty Coffee standard of 80 points or above, and each batch is individually roasted on a drum roaster to preserve the unique aromas and characteristics of its origin. Bohnenkartell also offers SCA certified barista courses, cementing their role as both a quality focused roastery and an educational resource in the Ruhr Valley's specialty coffee scene.
