Café Pista

About This Coffee

This coffee comes from La Macarena farm in the municipality of Yacuanquer, Nariño region, Colombia, at approximately 2,000 meters altitude. The farm is managed by Álvaro Iván Muñoz Gómez, a passionate producer from a coffee-growing family. The coffee is part of Azahar Coffee's Proyecto Recolectores, launched in 2018 to support and valorize the essential work of coffee pickers. The main varieties grown are Castillo, Caturra, and Colombia. Cherries are hand-picked at full maturity, then fully washed with traditional fermentation of 18 to 24 hours, followed by patio drying for 10 to 15 days. The result is a clean, balanced, and expressive cup. Round and sweet, it works well as both espresso and filter coffee.

Café Pista

What began in 2014 as Le Pista Cafe Mobile, a bicycle powered coffee cart created by Maxime Richard, has grown into a Montreal roastery with three brick and mortar locations. The first permanent cafe opened on Beaubien Street in 2016, and roasting now takes place on a Loring S15 Falcon at the Rue Masson location. Cafe Pista maintains a farm to table mentality, building direct relationships with producers to ensure quality and traceability from origin to cup. In a uniquely Montreal twist, select locations transform into Vin Public wine bars on Thursday and Friday evenings, blending coffee culture with the city's vibrant social scene.
