This single origin Arabica coffee comes from the Nyamasheke region of Rwanda, grown at 1545 meters altitude. The Red Bourbon variety is processed using the natural method at Kirambo Washing Station. The coffee features an SCA cupping score of 88.25. The flavor profile includes a fruity, enzymatic fragrance with a chocolate base, red fruit notes, and floral characteristics. It is sweet and complex with good body and honeyed acidity. The Nyamasheke region benefits from a humid microclimate near Lake Kivu and nutrient-rich volcanic soils.
Al-Gharb Coffee Roasters started in 2019 when Chantell and Henning opened the Algarve's first specialty coffee roastery in Albufeira. Henning uses a fluid bed roaster, a specialized piece of equipment that suspends beans on hot air rather than tumbling them in a drum. The result is remarkably even roasting and clean flavor profiles. Al-Gharb roasts lighter than is common in Portugal to preserve the bean's natural characteristics. They source only traceable, sustainable micro-lots, working directly with producers to ensure fair pricing while minimizing environmental impact.
