This coffee is from Rwanda, sourced from 837 individual farmers within the Dukunde Kawa Cooperative. The farms cover 59.4 hectares at altitudes between 1800-2100 meters above sea level. The Musasa washing station is located on a large hill overlooking valleys and hills 70km from Kigali. This is a natural processed Bourbon variety coffee with tasting notes of strawberries and cream, passionfruit, and guava. The coffee cherries are selectively harvested and sun dried in raised beds for 45-60 days. Musasa means "place to make a bed" and was once home to King Mibambwe III Sentabyo in 1741-1746.
Luckie Beans is a family run roastery in Galashiels, in the Scottish Borders, operated by Jamie and Esther McLuckie for over ten years. They roast from an 18th century building in the centre of town, using a roaster fitted with a manual valve on the burners for full control over each batch. The coffees have earned thirteen Great Taste Awards from the Guild of Fine Food. Their range includes single origins from across East Africa and Latin America, two house blends named after local streets, and both Swiss Water and sugarcane process decafs. The roastery opens to the public every Wednesday.
