Scenery Coffee Roasters

About This Coffee

This coffee is from the Cyesha station in Nyamasheke District, Western Province, Rwanda. Red Bourbon variety grown at 1450-1800 meters altitude by 500 private smallholder farmers. Traditional natural processing where cherries are hand sorted, floated, and underripes skimmed, then laid out to dry on raised beds over 50 days with continual hand sorting and turning. Features baking spice, hedgerow fruits, strong brewed rooibos chai, fruitcake, fig rolls, and demerara sweetness, with aromatics of fresh grated nutmeg, cola cubes, and bruised plums. The roast extends slightly further than typical light roasts to add brown sugar notes that support the cup profile.

Scenery Coffee Roasters

Scenery Coffee Roasters was founded in London in 2023 by a trio with a combined three decades of experience in the specialty coffee industry. They roast on a Loring S35, producing on set days and holding coffee in airtight bulk storage before bagging, a workflow designed around freshness and consistency. Sourcing is forward looking: Scenery works with importers to purchase coffee early while it is still at origin, releasing lots as they land in the UK. All furniture in the space is upcycled, and the approach to materials follows the same minimal intervention philosophy that guides the roasting. Scenery was named a Sprudge Notable Roaster for 2025 and won Sprudge Best Design/Packaging in 2024.
