Rugamba

About This Coffee

Rugamba is a washed coffee from Rwanda, processed at the Rugamba wet mill located on the shores of Lake Kivu. Grown in the surrounding hills at high altitude in rich volcanic soil, the coffee is processed from over 1500 farmers' cherries. The beans are floated to remove immature cherry, then dried on raised beds for 20-25 days. The coffee features Red Bourbon variety with tasting notes of lime, black tea, brown sugar, and clove.

The roastery sits in the Jewellery Quarter on Kenyon Street, where the entire roasting process is visible from the café floor. In 2023 they opened a dedicated site for production and training. Coffees are organised into three categories: Stable for balanced profiles, Venture for floral and citrus forward lots, and Unique for experimental processes. All retail bags are fully home compostable and biodegradable.
