Prodigal Coffee

About This Coffee

This Peruvian coffee is produced by Valentin Orosco in the Cusco region. It features the SL-9 variety grown among shade trees that provide natural habitat to native birds. The coffee underwent washed processing: ripe cherries were selectively hand harvested and immediately pulped, followed by a brief fermentation. The coffee was then washed to fully remove any remaining mucilage and dried on raised beds for 15-20 days. The cup profile is plush and rich with flavors of rhubarb, currant jam, and melon.

Prodigal Coffee

Prodigal Coffee marks the highly anticipated return of industry legend Scott Rao to the roasting game, setting up shop in Boulder, Colorado, to practice what he’s preached in his famous books. After years of consulting, the whole mission is to produce technically flawless roasts that lean unapologetically into lighter, modern profiles, aiming for high-acid, juicy cups. The sourcing is selective, focused only clean, high-scoring greens that can stand up to their data-driven quality control standards.
