About This Coffee

This single-origin coffee is grown in the Chiapas region of southern Mexico at altitudes between 1200-1750 meters above sea level. It is an Arabica coffee cultivated in the shade of trees that provide a unique microclimate. The coffee is washed processed and dark roasted, resulting in rich notes of cocoa, toasted nuts, raisins, and citrus. The aroma features hints of sweet chocolate and nutty undertones. The climate in Chiapas is tropical and humid with frequent rainfall and mild temperatures throughout the year, combined with high altitude and fertile soil creating ideal growing conditions. The coffee has mild acidity, medium body, and a smooth flavor profile.

Riposo Coffee Roasters

Andrew Schittone and Adriana Cabrera founded Riposo Coffee Roasters after a 2019 trip to Italy reignited their shared love of coffee. Andrew's Italian heritage and Adriana's family roots in Puerto Rican coffee farming, where her grandmother operated a farm on the island, give the roastery a personal foundation that runs deeper than most. They started roasting in their garage, spent two years building the business, and opened their first retail location in Rumson, New Jersey in November 2023. The name Riposo nods to the Italian tradition of the mid afternoon pause, and the roasting reflects that sensibility: small batch, unhurried, with both single origin offerings and a classic Italian espresso blend in the lineup.
