This coffee is from Kenya's Kirinyaga County, located in the southern foothills of Mt. Kenya at 1700-1900 meters altitude. Grown by smallholder members of the Rungeto Farmers' Cooperative Society, the coffee is processed at the Kii Washing Station, built in 1995 and named after the nearby Kii River. The varieties include SL28, SL34, Ruiru 11, and Batian. The coffee is graded AB, a premium classification combining screen sizes 15 and 16. It undergoes the iconic Kenyan double fermentation process, with beans fermented twice for 12-24 hours each time, followed by a clean water soak for up to 24 hours. The parchment coffee is dried on raised African beds for 11-14 days. The cup profile features blackcurrant, rhubarb, grapefruit, wine gums, and bright, juicy acidity.
