This naturally processed coffee comes from the Kagumo Factory in Nyeri, Kenya, part of the Aguthi Agricultural Cooperative. Cultivated by 501 farmers (including 175 women) on 186 acres of fertile red volcanic soil, the coffee consists of SL varieties, Ruiru-11, and local cultivars. The region's natural drainage, gentle rainfall, and temperatures of 15-27°C allow for slow maturation. After harvest, cherries are hand-sorted and dried on raised beds for 20-30 days until reaching 10-12% moisture content, then stored in their dried husks before hulling and export. Flavor notes include blackberry, dried figs, red wine, and chocolate.
