This coffee is a single-origin selection from the Java Halu coffee farm in Indonesia, managed by producer Rani Mayasari. It features the Sigararuntang and S795 varieties and is processed using a natural anaerobic method. The coffee is grown and processed with a focus on specialty standards, utilizing controlled temperature environments and a combination of greenhouse and African bed drying. The flavor profile is characterized by notes of pear and apple juice, offering a full body.
Boxx Coffee Roasters Co was founded in Istanbul in 2015 by Mert Soley, a former car racer, and Altug Baser, a scientist, before expanding to Los Angeles in 2021 with partner Arda Barlas. The Downtown Arts District roastery and café specialises in light roasted, origin focused coffees with an emphasis on floral, citrus, and fruity notes, sourcing single origin microlots from Bolivia, Congo, Ecuador, Mexico, Nicaragua, and Uganda. A signature offering is Turkish style cezve coffee brewed slowly in the traditional manner, honouring the founders' heritage. The espresso programme runs on a La Marzocco Strada with Mahlkonig Peak grinders, and the team pursues what they call the God Shot philosophy of perfect espresso alignment.
