This coffee is a Yellow Bourbon microlot from Finca Las Mercedes, located in the Tarrazú region of Costa Rica at 1,800 meters altitude. It is a natural processed coffee grown in a regenerative system under shade trees. The cup profile is characterized by juicy and sweet notes of red grape, mandarin, orange, and tropical fruit. This light roast coffee is noted for its layered complexity and fresh fruit juice qualities.
Volcanica Coffee began in 2004 when Costa Rican-born Maurice Contreras started importing richly flavored beans from volcanic regions right out of his garage. What began as a side passion soon grew into a family-run specialty roaster, roasting on demand in Atlanta and sending each batch out within a day. Their approach is simple, unyielding: showcase terroir-driven, exotic single-origin beans from volcanic soils, roast them with care, and ship only when they’re at their freshest.
