Loquat Coffee

Loquat Coffee was founded by AJ Kim and Scott Sohn, who also own the multi roaster café Kumquat Coffee Co., and opened in August 2022 in the Cypress Park neighborhood of Los Angeles. Unlike Kumquat's rotating roster of guest roasters, Loquat roasts everything in house, using a Diedrich IR 7 at the café and a Loring S15 at a production facility in Brea. The lineup features direct trade, micro lot, and Cup of Excellence grade coffees from Kenya, Costa Rica, Guatemala, Ethiopia, Brazil, and Panama. New drops rotate regularly, and a minimalist café design in matte black and vivid yellow gives the space a character distinct from its sister brand. Loquat represents Kim and Sohn's evolution from curating other roasters' work to putting their own roasting philosophy at the center.
