This coffee originates from Burundi's Kayanza province, specifically the Gatara commune, grown by 1,780 smallholder farmers at altitudes between 1,500 and 1,800 meters. The variety is Red Bourbon (100% Arabica), processed using the Honey method at the Gakenke washing station — established in 1991 and capable of processing up to 750 tonnes of cherries per season. Tasting notes include caramel, fig, and peach, with a fruity and complex profile described as balanced and comforting.
Sgt. Martinho was founded in Caldas da Rainha with a mission to serve the coffee community with dedication and expertise, much like a sergeant leads their troop. They are not only a roastery but also a supplier of professional coffee equipment, reflecting their comprehensive approach to the craft. Their philosophy is to provide both exceptional, freshly roasted coffee and the tools needed to prepare it perfectly.
