About This Coffee

Country of Origin: ColombiaVariety: Sudan RumeProcess: NaturalAltitude: 1900-2000mASL Mikava has gained acclaim throughout the world of coffee, winning national and international competitions. The coffees grown by Paul Doyle alongside his son, Kevin and their team. We have visited their farm and have been buying their coffee since the beginning of Special Guests. This lot of Sudan Rume is very small; only 7 kilos of green, which is only around 6kg of roasted coffee available, but we are very glad to be having it as part of our unscheduled releases. Originating from the Rume region near the Ethiopian border (in present-day South Sudan), this varietal is now cultivated globally due to its exceptional disease resistance and often very floral and fruit-like characteristics. This naturally processed lot from Mikava delivers remarkable quality along with impressive flavour complexity. In the cup we find flavours of passionfruit, peach and guava

Special Guests Coffee

Special Guests Coffee was founded in 2022 by Paul Ross, a two time UK Barista Champion who took the title in 2019. After stints at Origin Coffee, Kiss the Hippo, and Watch House, Paul launched a boutique roastery focused on rare micro lots, competition level beans, and exclusive varietals in extremely limited supply. The flagship café on Aybrook Street in Marylebone opened in late 2023, featuring two long silver counters: one dedicated to espresso, the other to a pourover brew bar offering 12 single origin coffees as hand brewed filter. The roastery also maintains an archive of carefully frozen coffees, giving standout lots a second chance to shine. A monthly subscription delivers 100g of rare, world class coffee to members.
