About This Coffee

This natural-processed coffee originates from the Gitwe Washing Station in Nyamasheke District, Rwanda, in the western highlands along the Lake Kivu corridor. Smallholder farmers grow the coffee on steep hillsides under shade using traditional practices. The coffee features a complex, jammy flavor profile with red fruit tones including pomelo, cranberry, and red peach, balanced with lime acidity and notes of baked apple pie and rock melon. The cupping score is 86.25 points with medium-high body and medium lactic/malic acidity.

Arkib Kopi was founded in 2018 by Helmi, a certified Q grader whose training in Japan shaped both his palate and his approach to presentation. The roastery operates from its "Ibu Sawat" (Mothership) facility in Kuala Lumpur, housing a custom 1kg machine alongside a 15kg Cogen roaster for production batches. Sourcing follows a dual model: direct trade with producers to secure top lots and a sustainable partnership with Falcon Coffee Trader that prioritizes social and environmental impact. The lineup is organized into three collections, FANSI for omni roast, RUTIN for filter, and MANIS for espresso, each highlighting seasonal origins from Rwanda, Panama, Indonesia, and Brazil. Arkib also runs weekend public cupping sessions at its flagship, reinforcing its role as a community hub for specialty coffee education in Malaysia.
