Bohnenkartell

About This Coffee

This single-origin coffee is from the Lintong Nihuta region in North Sumatra, Indonesia, grown at altitudes between 1300-1600 meters. Produced by Naibaho, it features the varieties Onanganjang, Sigararutang, and Timtim. The coffee is processed using the traditional Giling Basah wet-hulled method, where farmers hand-pick ripe cherries at sunrise, depulp them with hand-operated machines, ferment overnight in sacks, and dry the wet parchment on patios until it develops a deep blue-greenish color before final hand sorting. This 100% Arabica coffee is lightly roasted and offers a fruity profile with notes of black tea, grapefruit, and licorice.

Bohnenkartell

Maximilian Kranz and Dominik Münstermann founded Bohnenkartell in Essen, building a cafe and roastery whose playful name, meaning "Bean Cartel," belies a serious commitment to specialty coffee. All green coffees meet the SCA Specialty Coffee standard of 80 points or above, and each batch is individually roasted on a drum roaster to preserve the unique aromas and characteristics of its origin. Bohnenkartell also offers SCA certified barista courses, cementing their role as both a quality focused roastery and an educational resource in the Ruhr Valley's specialty coffee scene.
