Beanpress Coffee

About This Coffee

This is a washed coffee from the Gedeo Zone in southern Ethiopia, blended from numerous smallholdings. Coffee is grown at elevations between 1900-2300 meters above sea level in a climate historically ideal for producing high-quality coffee. The cherries are hand-harvested and delivered to a central washing station where beans are depulped, fermented in water for two days, then dried slowly in the sun on raised beds for several weeks. Roasted light to retain natural acidity and honey sweetness. Features fruity notes of peach and orange with a floral aroma and buttery mouthfeel.

Beanpress Coffee

Ben founded Beanpress in 2013 in Dorset, starting with a small roaster imported from Türkiye and his first pallet of specialty beans from importer Mercanta. A larger Joper cast iron roaster from Portugal followed the same year, and the roastery settled into a converted farm building at North West Farm, just outside the village of Winterborne Kingston. A trip to Ethiopia in 2014 reshaped Ben's understanding of the variety and care involved in coffee production, deepening his commitment to traceable, relationship driven sourcing. Beanpress specializes in single origin coffees and has grown into Dorset's leading supplier of locally roasted, ethically sourced beans, serving cafes, pubs, and restaurants across Dorset, Hampshire, Wiltshire, and Devon.
