Helsingin Kahvipaahtimo (Helsinki Coffee Roastery) is a Finnish roastery in Helsinki, roasting at Teurastamo, the city's former-abattoir district that's now a food and culture hub. It was founded in 2011 by Benjamin Andberg, a roaster with more than twenty years' experience who had earlier started Kaffa Roastery and has competed in coffee competitions in Finland and internationally; he still leads the roasting and product development. They roast on a cast-iron German Probat machine heated with Finnish biogas, and aim for balanced, consistent coffee rather than chasing complexity for its own sake. Most of the green coffee is bought directly from farmers, with the stated goal of paying growers better and keeping the trade fairer.
