Scenery Coffee Roasters

About This Coffee

This coffee is a Peaberry (PB) lot from the Gakuyu-ini factory in Kirinyaga County, Kenya, grown at altitudes between 1500 and 1900 meters. Produced by 3700 smallholders of the Thirikwa Farmers' Cooperative Society, this coffee is traditionally washed and sun-dried. It features a classic Kenyan profile with vibrant notes of blackcurrant, apple, pomegranate, and lemon verbena, complemented by floral hints of black tea and parma violets. As it cools, it develops a juicy, malic acidity reminiscent of poached rhubarb.

Scenery Coffee Roasters

Scenery Coffee Roasters was founded in London in 2023 by a trio with a combined three decades of experience in the specialty coffee industry. They roast on a Loring S35, producing on set days and holding coffee in airtight bulk storage before bagging, a workflow designed around freshness and consistency. Sourcing is forward looking: Scenery works with importers to purchase coffee early while it is still at origin, releasing lots as they land in the UK. All furniture in the space is upcycled, and the approach to materials follows the same minimal intervention philosophy that guides the roasting. Scenery was named a Sprudge Notable Roaster for 2025 and won Sprudge Best Design/Packaging in 2024.
