This coffee is sourced from smallholder farmers at the Karindundu washing station in the Nyeri County of Kenya, grown at an altitude of 1700 meters. It consists of SL28 and SL34 varieties and is processed using a traditional washed method. The flavor profile is characterized by vibrant notes of lime zest, red currant, pomelo, and thyme. This light roast offers a transparent and classic cup, highlighting the clarity and acidity typical of high-quality Kenyan coffee.
Founded in 2020 at the onset of the COVID 19 pandemic, Moonwake Coffee Roasters emerged from the passion of two former tech engineers, Ming Wood from Tesla and Mabel Yeung from Meta. What began as Ming's personal coffee project within Tesla's internal coffee club evolved into a full roastery operation after both founders chose to leave their tech careers to pursue coffee full time between 2023 and 2024. Moonwake represents a growing movement of technologists who discovered that coffee roasting offers greater fulfillment than their previous careers, channeling engineering precision into specialty coffee.
