This single origin coffee comes from the El Morito estate located in Morales village in the Mataquescuintla, Jalapa region of Guatemala, approximately two hours east of Guatemala City near the El Salvador border. The estate, purchased by Jose Roberto Monterosso in 1994, spans 672 hectares of mountain terrain at altitudes reaching up to 2,650 meters with rich volcanic soil. The coffee is processed using the Washed Anaerobic 120h method, where whole coffee cherries are sealed in anaerobic fermentation tanks for 120 hours, promoting the development of fruity esters and lactic acid notes, then depulped and dried. The coffee features varieties Pacamara and Gesha. It has a medium-full, smooth body with vibrant citrus acidity reminiscent of fresh grapefruit, distinctive tropical sweetness of ripe mango and pineapple, with a long, clean, refreshing finish and persistent pineapple notes.
Stow Coffee Roasters operates its roastery in Kamnik, with a cafe in Ljubljana serving as the public face of the brand. The focus is on freshness, quality sourcing, and creating a welcoming hub for Slovenia's growing specialty coffee community.
