This coffee comes from Costa Rica's Finca Las Mercedes farm and is a hybrid of Catuai and Ethiopia Sudan Rume varieties. It is honey-processed and sun-dried, roasted to a medium-light level, featuring bright acidity, smooth body, and complex flavors of stone fruit, cocoa, and floral notes.
Volcanica Coffee began in 2004 when Costa Rican-born Maurice Contreras started importing richly flavored beans from volcanic regions right out of his garage. What began as a side passion soon grew into a family-run specialty roaster, roasting on demand in Atlanta and sending each batch out within a day. Their approach is simple, unyielding: showcase terroir-driven, exotic single-origin beans from volcanic soils, roast them with care, and ship only when they’re at their freshest.
