Bird and Bear Coffee

About This Coffee

This single-origin coffee is grown at high altitudes of 1950-2000 meters in the Colombian Andes at the Las Nubes farm. It features the Wush Wush variety, which originated in Ethiopia. The coffee undergoes an extended fermentation natural process, where the seeds are dried inside the fruit to concentrate natural sugars. This light roast offers a floral and sweet profile with distinct notes of blackberry and hibiscus, reflecting the nuanced flavors developed by the cool, misty climate of the region.

Bird and Bear Coffee

Bird and Bear Coffee was founded in 2020 by Dan Streetman and his wife Ella in San Francisco's Cole Valley, named after the nicknames of their twin daughters. Dan brings nearly 20 years of specialty coffee experience from stints at Cuvee Coffee in Austin, Irving Farm in New York, and Sightglass, and holds credentials through both the SCA and CQI. The roastery produces around 300 pounds per week at Pulley Collective in Oakland, a private label co op facility, with each coffee roasted fresh when ordered using parameters tailored to unlock its specific flavour potential. Dan has developed direct relationships with growers through origin trips, prioritising environmental wellbeing, equitable working conditions, and sustainable farming practices.
