About This Coffee

This coffee is from Chontalí, a highland district in Jaén, Cajamarca, Peru. The region features steep ridges and humid valleys with smallholder communities, where farms are typically under two hectares. Grown at 1,600-2,000 meters altitude, this coffee is made up of Caturra, Bourbon, and Typica varieties with some Pache and Catimor. The coffee is fully washed processed, which is the most common method in the area, alongside some honey and natural experiments. Falcon Coffees Peru exports this lot, working directly with farmers and paying quality-differentiated prices at the farm gate.

Quarter Horse Coffee

Quarter Horse Coffee opened its first café in Oxford in 2012 before moving permanently to Birmingham in 2015, becoming the city's first specialty coffee roasters. The roastery sits in the Jewellery Quarter on Kenyon Street, where the entire roasting process is visible from the café floor. In 2023 they opened a dedicated site for production and training. Coffees are organised into three categories: Stable for balanced profiles, Venture for floral and citrus forward lots, and Unique for experimental processes. All retail bags are fully home compostable and biodegradable.
