About This Coffee

This coffee originates from the Kayanza Province in Burundi, grown at 1900 meters altitude. Processed at the Matongo washing station operated by JNP (Jeanine Niyonzima-Aroian), this coffee is Bourbon variety and undergoes a double-fermentation washed process. After de-pulping, the coffee ferments overnight for 8-12 hours under the tank, then transfers to another tank for shorter fermentation before mucilage removal and drying on raised African beds. The 2024/2025 harvest was a first-place winner of the Cup of Excellence in 2013. Flavor notes include dark berries, mandarin, gingerbread spice, milk chocolate, ripe peaches, toffee, and jasmine with good body and bright acidity.
