Aquiares Honey Espresso

Kaffeekirsche

About This Coffee

This single-origin coffee comes from Finca Aquiares in Costa Rica, located in the Turrialba region on the slopes of the Turrialba volcano at 1,200 meters altitude. It features the Centroamericano H1 hybrid variety, a cross between Sarchimor T-5296 and Rume Sudan. The coffee is processed using the Red Honey method, where the sweet mucilage remains on the bean during drying. Flavor notes include blood orange, cashew, and flat peach, with a silky body, prominent sweetness, and mild acidity. The farm is CO₂-neutral and operates with a focus on specialty coffee, ecological innovation, and research in biodiversity and agroforestry.

Kaffeekirsche

Kaffeekirsche was founded in 2014 in Berlin Kreuzberg near Adalbertsrasse, beginning a journey that has seen the roastery move and expand multiple times as demand grew. In 2017 the operation relocated to Böckhstrasse alongside a new cafe and bakery, and by February 2022 the main roastery had settled in Tempelhof with an attached cafe, bringing the total to three Berlin locations. All coffee is drum roasted daily, with a focus on single origin Arabica beans sourced from origins including Colombia, where Pink Bourbon from the Cauca region is among the standout lots. Their omni roast philosophy means each coffee is developed to perform across both espresso and filter brewing methods. Signature roasts like the Dark Side Espresso and Gran Galope, known for its full body and lingering sweetness, showcase the range and ambition of their roasting program.
