Kaffeekirsche

About This Coffee

This coffee is from Colombia, specifically from the Cauca region in El Tambo, grown at altitudes between 1,400 and 2,000 meters. It is produced by ASMUCAFE (Asociación de Mujeres Agropecuarias de Uribe), a community of women farmers and landowners. The coffee consists of Castillo and Colombia varieties, processed using a washed method with double fermentation. Cherries are selectively harvested when fully ripe, then undergo 14 hours of whole cherry fermentation followed by depulping and another 10 hours of fermentation in open tanks. After washing, the coffee dries for 8-12 days in parabolic dryers or under the sun. The flavor profile includes dark chocolate, dried apple, and molasses with a balanced body, caramelized sweetness, and fruity acidity.

Kaffeekirsche

Kaffeekirsche was founded in 2014 in Berlin Kreuzberg near Adalbertsrasse, beginning a journey that has seen the roastery move and expand multiple times as demand grew. In 2017 the operation relocated to Böckhstrasse alongside a new cafe and bakery, and by February 2022 the main roastery had settled in Tempelhof with an attached cafe, bringing the total to three Berlin locations. All coffee is drum roasted daily, with a focus on single origin Arabica beans sourced from origins including Colombia, where Pink Bourbon from the Cauca region is among the standout lots. Their omni roast philosophy means each coffee is developed to perform across both espresso and filter brewing methods. Signature roasts like the Dark Side Espresso and Gran Galope, known for its full body and lingering sweetness, showcase the range and ambition of their roasting program.
