August 63

Ken Braz's journey to founding August 63 began in 2016 with a coffee blog called Kaffeegang, which grew into a hands on obsession after he purchased a 1 kilogram Aillio Bullet roaster in 2020. A crowdfunding campaign in 2021 transformed the project into a proper roasting business, named after its home at Auguststrasse 63 in Berlin Mitte. Braz roasts his coffees at Communal Coffee, Germany's largest co roastery, a setup that gives him access to professional equipment while maintaining his independent vision. The brand also operates a mobile coffee bar called Augusta, bringing specialty coffee to markets and events around Berlin. August 63 has expanded into wholesale and catering, building a presence that belies its grassroots, community funded origins.
