This coffee is from Mchana Estate, one of the largest coffee estates of Kofinaf Company Limited, located 35 km north of Nairobi and 10 km west of Ruiru town. The estate comprises 459.1 hectares of coffee-bearing area on deep red volcanic soils with loamy sandy proportions. The land features rolling and undulating plains with bi-modal rainfall patterns in March-May and October-December. Only red ripe coffee cherries are hand-picked and processed using natural/dry processing methods. The coffee is dried on raised beds or tables under the sun until reaching optimal moisture content before storage. The estate follows strict hygienic conditions during cherry handling and processing.
