This Rwandan coffee is grown by smallholder farmers in the Nyamasheke District of the Western Province at an altitude of 1,600–1,850 meters. The coffee is a Red Bourbon variety grown in rich volcanic soils and processed at the Karengera washing station. It is a washed coffee that undergoes hand-sorting, pulping, fermentation, and sun-drying on raised beds. The flavor profile is juicy and complex, featuring notes of strawberry, raspberry, and marzipan.
Clifftop Coffee Roasters is a Portugal-based specialty roaster that sources single-origin coffee seasonally and ships it freshly roasted across Europe. It started in 2021 with coffee roasted on a balcony overlooking the sea and sold at a local market, then grew into a nano-roastery. The operation has scaled up since, with a bigger roaster, and a dedicated warehouse. Green coffee is sourced seasonally and roasted for balance and consistency, backed by quality control and regular cupping, across a rotating lineup that has recently included Guatemala, Colombia, Peru, Brazil, and Rwanda.
