This coffee comes from the Sidama region in Ethiopia, specifically around the Bensa area near Logita and the Kokosa village at high altitude. It is processed as Natural (sun-dried). The lot is described as Heirloom variety grown at approximately 2,100–2,300 meters. Flavor notes include tropical fruits, citrus, and caramel, yielding a sweet, fruity cup with bright acidity and depth.
Boxx Coffee Roasters Co was founded in Istanbul in 2015 by Mert Soley, a former car racer, and Altug Baser, a scientist, before expanding to Los Angeles in 2021 with partner Arda Barlas. The Downtown Arts District roastery and café specialises in light roasted, origin focused coffees with an emphasis on floral, citrus, and fruity notes, sourcing single origin microlots from Bolivia, Congo, Ecuador, Mexico, Nicaragua, and Uganda. A signature offering is Turkish style cezve coffee brewed slowly in the traditional manner, honouring the founders' heritage. The espresso programme runs on a La Marzocco Strada with Mahlkonig Peak grinders, and the team pursues what they call the God Shot philosophy of perfect espresso alignment.
