This small-lot coffee is grown at 1,800 meters in the Tarrazú region of Costa Rica at Finca Las Mercedes. It is a Pacamara variety, known for its oversized beans, processed using the natural method and sun-dried on raised beds. The cup profile is characterized by a bold, layered flavor featuring zesty lemon citrus, ripe strawberry, and a clean grapefruit finish. This light roast is grown under a regenerative, shade-grown canopy.
Volcanica Coffee began in 2004 when Costa Rican-born Maurice Contreras started importing richly flavored beans from volcanic regions right out of his garage. What began as a side passion soon grew into a family-run specialty roaster, roasting on demand in Atlanta and sending each batch out within a day. Their approach is simple, unyielding: showcase terroir-driven, exotic single-origin beans from volcanic soils, roast them with care, and ship only when they’re at their freshest.
